Engine re-sealing kits?
I did a little bit of searching and didn't find anything specific. I'm prepping (pricing parts at this point) to tackle some oil leakage issues in my 3.0. I figure by the time I have the engine out, there will likely be other issues to address than what I already know of.
Is there a vendor that sells kits that include all potential oil leakage gaskets and seals in these engines? I'd also be open to replacing most if not all of the various lines and hoses that are still original in the car. Thanks, G.A. |

A top end gasket set with the addition of front and rear crankshaft seals and a thermostat o-ring should take care of the leaks. More than you'll need, but that's probably the best package you'll find.

All I'm seeing in the Pelican catalog are complete engine or case kits. Are you referring to the former? If not, would you happen to have a link to the set you're talking about? |

Also, the new rubber oil lines to the cylinder heads fit like garbage ! Be prepared to do a lot of tweaking.

I found a 3.2 kit on our host's site, but not a 3.0 kit. Might be similar, but it's also more expensive. Might wanna go for that Wrightwood kit. They're my kit of choice, anyway.

I try to locate a W kit for a 3.2 but even Patrick Motor Sport has only a 2.0l kit. The only place it seem to show up is Amazon but the description is vague. Any suggestion? Thanks JJ

I couldn't find any such kit for my 2.7. So, I browsed thru the PET catalog diagrams and wrote down every part number for any gasket, o-ring, and crush washer and then ordered every item from Pelican. A kit would have been easier but this way worked and I have replaced every possible seal that can be gotten to without tearing apart the engine.
Other seals to replace....the trans input gear selector shaft, speedo gear, and reverse light switch. I thought my trans had been leaking bad as it was covered in oil. But after deep cleaning, I found a drip at the input shaft that was probably blowing oil back onto everything. One last item....the sensor at the top rear of the engine for the oil dummy light is notorious to leak right thru the switch. |

Is eBay no longer a source for things Porsche?
.... and there's this thing called the internet: https://www.google.com/search?q=porsche+911+engine+gasket+kit&biw=925&bih=524&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=zs4fVJueOYGpogSLpIFI&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAg Or maybe you're looking for a more specific gasket kit. Sherwood |

I am aware of the internet. As far as specific types of kits go, maybe my original post didn't really express that. I was wondering if any particular vendor provided a kit that encompassed all of the common oil leak locations on these engines. I'm not looking to split the case at this point, just to remedy the 'external' leaks. Having said that last bit, WYIT is surely inevitable to an extent. |

One more reason I like using the PET catalog is because I like to print the pages with diagrams for the parts I am buying. By the time they get delivered, I will have forgotten what they are and where they go (for many of them anyway). I start by printing the specific diagrams, then jot down the part numbers, and then highlight the item in yellow. This way I know I've gotten everything I need and have a tool for later.
Fortunately, there are not too many gaskets/O-rings that cause the majority of leaks. The area around the breather and the oil cooler are big culprits. |
