Stunning Car. The Devil is in the details and you nailed it cold. What a killer sleeper it must be. Enjoy it!

Where did you source those brakes from?

The Steel Wheels you have on in one of the pictures would also be a good look. Going one further you could have a set of steelies made a bit wider to keep that sleeper look but with a bit more rubber to harness all that 3.8 goodness.

Absolutely beautiful; darn close to my dream build as well. And +1 -- I'd love to know more about these brakes.

Thank you trader, those wheels are custom 8X15 and 7x15 steelies and the rears have a custom offset that makes the 8" wide fit just barely with no rubbing on non-rolled fenders. I use 205 on the fronts and 215 on the rears for a "stretched" look. I have two sets in white and in silver. They look fantastic but are very heavy, I'll see how they behave later on.

Brakes

Hello
Those calipers, I believe, were developed by Francis Tuthill (the renown rally car builder) in conjunction with C12. I got mine thru "R-to-RSR" in the UK . I do not know if they are the actual builders or C12 is but it is the same design. I remember there is someone distributing them in the states, but I can't recall who it is. They are supposedly better and lighter than 930 Turbo or Boxster calipers and use standard Carrera rotors. You'll need a 23mm master cylinder for them (just like the Mercedes Benz type used in the Boxster setup).
Andy from R-to-RSR is a nice guy but runs his shop somewhat distractedly (like Clint from Rebel Racing) and might take a couple of months more than he initially tells you to get them ready and sent.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

Amen!
I would rather have this car than anything I have seen from MW. It just goes to show us Porsche enthusiast have been hot rodding Porsche's for a long time and have a deep well to draw from for inspiration. It just didn't start a few years ago with the appearance of the "Urban Outlaw" ! It has developed over years and years with us as well as the factory.

Mechanicals are excellent but the simplistic yet very cool interior styling makes this Porsche a solid 10 for me! Fantastic job Maurico !! Just the right amount of everything. Alpha Dog may look sweet but it has teeth!

I want those door panels!!

jittsl 10-26-2014 10:17 AM

Truely a beautiful car. Thank you for sharing. I have a suspicion that you door panels are likely to be copied many times.

Radio

Hello "arrivederci"
The radio is a rare Player/Radio head unit that I bought new from a man in Germany. It is a High End player made by the revered US brand Mcintosh Laboratory McIntosh Labs as part of their automobile line of audio equipment. The model is MX406 and it was up until last year their current car head unit, but since the new italian owners of the brand "Fine Sounds Group", have been revamping their whole line of audio products, I do not know if they still produce their auto line. It really sounds fantastic but you'll have to mate it with the same quality of amplifier, speakers, cables and installation. If not with the same Mcintosh equipment, then at least with something like the Focal Utopia Be line. I fit it with a bluetooth music and cell phone interface so to play my audio lists and answer the phone though the audio system for safety issues, and I also black powder coated the side aluminum plates so that it became all black so only the dash-plate chrome stripes dress the dash panel.

i love that engine. does pulling air through the original intake plenum/filter impede performance on the bigger engine at all?

Hello "clutch-monkey"
Thanks,
I really hope it does not limit it too much. Even with the RS "Wide Mouth" intake box tunnel, the air to the carbs will not be as good as a free-flowing direct filters, nor as loud. But that's ok with me since it is not a track, but a touring car. The whole concept of this "sleeper" was to make it as "normal" looking and sounding as possible while having the most street-drivable power available. I knew there would have to be compromises in doing so which made the decision to go for a 3.8 a no-brainer. In the end, with the extra weight, (full steel, triple sound insulation, full chrome dressage), the 2 into 1 exhaust, the enclosed intake and the limited rubber, if this car drives no faster than a regular 993, then I'll be pretty happy.

Video engine running

Hello
I finally got to publish a video of the engine running, here is the link It still needs tuning and dyne time but it's almost ready. James Patrick is very methodical about his engines, so I'll have to be patient. I just want to grab it and drive off into the sunset! You can hear my excitement involuntary chuckles at the end of the video.

Beautiful build! Congratulations on getting to the driving enjoyment phase :)

I noticed what looks like the windshield washer reservoir/pump mounted in the trunk near the cowl. Can you please provide some information on that? I've installed a second oil cooler in the driver's side fender so I lost the original reservoir and haven't yet replaced it and your solution looks interesting as an option.

Thanks - Dave
