CDI diagnostic testing tool from PartsKlassic

Hey Everyone,

In trying to figure out the ignition miss on our 78 911SC after a "new" distributor replacement, I just wanted to pass on some good intel on available tools now being sold by Kurt at ************. Kurt and his wife were gracious enough to spend a bit of time with me on the phone regarding our car and at the time of my distributor issue, he told me about a diagnostic tool he was in the final testing phase before offering them for sale.

I am still in the process of getting the car up and running again working with a local shop. In the mean time, in talking with Kurt, they just released a new diagnostic tool that is available to us enthusiast. Although I don't have one of these yet, it is on my "must have" list.

They offer it for a 3 pin CDI or a 6 pin CDI, and even a "Master" kit that includes both set ups. The best part, they are reasonably priced and affordable to the weekend warrior mechanic types.

Check it out...

And if anyone has had a chance to use one of these, I am curious to hear what your findings were. There is a YouTube link to a short video on these units on their web site. In all, it looks very promising.

kurt is a good guy. hes got stuff there that you cant get anywhere else. as far as your miss goes, dont rule out a clogged injector. after 20 yrs of 911 ownership ive got a clogged injector, first one. hard to diagnose because ive never had any trouble from them. my symptoms where rough idle and knocking at WOT

Great guy to talk too on the phone. Very patient with regards to a noob.

Thanks for the injector pointer. Never thought to look at that, been focusing on electrical issues. The miss shows up while driving but not at idle.

Lotta money for a diagnostic tool that you may use once.

You can send it to Ingo and get is tested for a LOT less.

Thanks,

I'll mention that the next time I get by the shop, it makes sense. I was hopping to take my dad to a concourse show on the 4th of next month but it seems we'll be taking something else........
