Race car build

I am going to be building this thing slowly but surely into a bad@ss mofo.

A little background on the car - I wrecked it.

Now, I have it gutted, interior out, engine and tranny out, gas tank and almost everything but the suspension and wheels out. I am hoping to get the chassis stretched and start welding in a cage soon. I'll post pics for all you to see as I go. Wish me luck

EDIT:
I am going to try to keep the expenses of the build here and will add while I go.
Wrecked 911 - $3500 (bought back from insurance co.)
Pelican SS brake lines - $65 (I think)
Radial arm bushings from pelican - $70 (I think elephant racing made these)
Porsche Hub (MOMO Steering wheel) adapter - $71
Acetone - $30
Primer and clear coat - $150
Rhino Liner - $60
Polycarbonate for window - $60
Misc (rags, WD40, engine cleaner) - $200
Hydrolic Chain tensioners - $350 (used)
9" Fuchs - $150 (a little beat, but will work)
Fasteners, clamps, etc - $30

Total: $4716.00

And about the paint job, my 13 year old neighbor who helps me work on the car thought he would try to be Picasso. I am going to paint it later anyways so I let him go nuts.

Is this the car that was wrecked while out on a date, or was that someone else?

Oh, the old " I was a witness officer, there was only one person in the car but at the second before impact I saw a 2nd head pop up!' story...

Why not chop off the front end and go tube steel like the car midaway down this thread?

Porsche Race Car Photos (show us what's under the bodywork)

...or part it out and buy one someone has spent too much on and come out ahead $$$

Interesting suggestion.

I wonder if you could buy something like that as a kit and just weld it on.

@WIL84911 Yeah, my roommate has a 64 vette in the garage, a 68 vette covered, a monster mozda 7 race car (a RX7 gutted with an LS1/LS6 camero motor putting 420 to the wheels and the car only weighs 2100 lbs) and a toyota truck. I have two 1979 911SCs and a truck. The 68 vette is a monster with a big block in the works.

Yeah, I already cut off the front and am planning on welding up a partial space frame to get the suspension points right. It should be a fun build. By the way, I went to laguna seca last Thursday and the fastest car on the track was a 72 longhood with 7s and 8s and a 3.6 putting out 305 hp. He was killing everyone, especially the vettes. HA!

Should be easy to make up. All it does it cross brace the chassis, and provide supports for the bodywork. The suspension pickup point use the stockchassis location (behind the tube steel portion).

Yep, I'm actually pretty fast on the track (obviously with my other 911). I should be faster with this car when I'm done with it . I know a lot of good track drivers who have gotten in way worse of accidents than mine.

And the shots were definitely a necessity.
