84' 911 Oil Gauge pegged at 5
Just got back from a DE this weekend. I notice at the end of the last run my oil pressure gauge was pegged at 5. Shut the car off and restarted.. Same thing. Ignition goes on the the needle pegs. Only think we did to the car was rotate the tach so redline is on the top. Gauge was working after that but was bouncing around a lot. Smoothed out with throttle. Pull a wire? Sender bad?

Go to the sender, the sender wire probably broker off.
That was my welcome present from my first AX. re-soldered, all good now

Wire Off the sender: Gauge Peg (good) Wire to chassis: Gauge @ 0 (good) If the above happened, your Pressure Sensor is duff. If the above does not happen, there is something wrong between the wire end (at the pressure sensor) and the gauge (gauge circuit included).

open circuit. take the wire off the sender, ground it and see if the gauge drops.

As all have mentioned above: The needle pegs when the circuit to the sender is disconnected.
It is common for the wire to breakdown inside the insulation just a bit up from the sender's connector. Vibration, heat, and corrosion working its way up from the end does it in. If that is the issue I suggest you put a 'service loop' at the end to reduce the stress from a simple 90° bend at the connector.

I gave it a wiggle and it seems to be working again. Just odd that it started doing that when I moved the tach, but that didn't make sense either.
