how many of u guys have factory service manuals and if yes would u ever sell them?

Wondering how many guys have factory porsche service manuals in your shop or garage? This includes shops that get paid for service work. Im not talking about 101 things to fix...or bentley or haynes. Real porsche manuals only. Can I see a show of hands?

Reason is Im falling in love with a newly acquired set and want to see if others would ever think of selling theirs. Seems to me these are hard to find. Pretty kewl stuff.

Thumbs up

Yup, I've got the factory manuals for the early 911 (through 1969), all 944's and all 928's. And, no, I'm not interested in selling any of them! (Heck, I've still got the factory manuals for nearly every car I've ever owned.........)

I have the full nine volume set for my 914-6, as well as the parts manual,. It takes about two feet of shelf space, and does look impressive. I also have the early 911 manuals, but am not quite ready to part with them (out of nostalgia).

However, I'm of the age that I want the information more than the actual manuals, so I really enjoy things online and on disc, and turn to those sources before the printed manuals.

I have a 9 volume set for the 928. I rebuilt, in my townhome garage, the rear suspension on one that I spun into a curb. Bought most of the parts at Parts Heaven. Cutting off bent bolts sucked. They're worth between $450-$650 depending on whether they do another round of printing.

I have the 2 volume set through '69 and would only let it go to the new owner if I ever sold the 68 Sporto.

There is a DVD on eBay for pretty cheap that has a whole bunch of the repair manuals on it, I got one and it appears to have all the information on it and looks like pictures I've seen of the pages on here. I still don't know if it is legal for them to sell the information, are the books old enough that the copyright is expired?

I've got a computer in the garage and the workshop manuals as PDF files on the computer.

Can't say that I'm too impressed with the factory workshop manual for my 1977. Difficult to find the information for my specific car.

Factory shop manuals.............

I have a set for the 911s, early thru SC. Would only sell them if I sold the car without intending to buy another Pcar. Considering that I have had the car for almost 18 years, selling is highly unlikely.

Realistically, the Bentley manual has just about everything you need in one convenient size book. I think some of the eBay DVDs are just copies of that manual.

I have the 2 volume set 65-71 with many supplements and the 70-71 parts catalog. The parts catalog has proved to be very useful especially in the years before the PET cd. Will never sell them since I will never sell the 70. Son will inherit unless he blows it.

Link below has pdf files you can download. The 84-89 911 is a Bentley manual. The 72-83 911 is factory. Other Porsche, Jag, BMW, Ferrari manuals as well.

They are not that impressive as there is no speedy way to get to a page.

Flat files of scanned images.

I would much rather pay $100 for a set on CD rom that has indexing than these freebies/$15 Ebay discs.

I have the factory manuals from 64-83. Like HienrikL says, they are not that easy to navigate. However I did talk about this to an older Porsche service manager and he said they made perfect sense to him (re: indexing). Must make more sense when you use them daily.
