Oil filled struts

A while back I posted a question on oil filled struts asking if they could they be re-filled. Some people had done this with good results so I decided to have a go
Can these struts be refilled and used

Background
I got hold of some Bogey struts to do a 5 lug conversion on my 914. The struts did not have strut inserts but had the original piston and cylinders that sit in an oil bath. Instead of buying new inserts I thought I would just replace/refill the old struts with new fork oil. I did this using Motul 10W fork oil.

Question
The struts are very easy to depress (downwaed stroke) but the return/upward stroke is very hard. Is this ok?

Thanks

Hi, I rebuilt my adjustable konis which are an oil bath type.

The compression stroke will be easier than the rebound, so assuming you've used the right oil ( Mine needed medium weight fork oil) and the various parts are all in good condition you should be good to go.
