Case stud oil leak
I have an original 6 engine in my 914/6 conversion car. I have an oil leak at the stud circled in the pic below. I have tried to torque the nut down onto this stud without success. I then double nutted the stud to see if maybe the stud and become loose. I was able to turn the stud in a bit but it would snug up correctly. When I removed the double nuts and placed a washer and nut back on to torque to value it won't snug up. Instead, as I torque the nut...the stud begins to turn out. I have a bad feeling about this....Please chime in with your wisdom.

Smear silicon on and around it. Leave it until you are ready to split the case, and stop effing with it.

That's odd. I see a reference to your upload in your quote - but no pic.
Is it a through bolt? There are head studs and through bolts in the case. Through bolts have o-rings and convex washers, if I remember correctly. They are replaceable if they have cooties.

Don't use the message at the bottom, use "post reply"for pictures. It's in the Orange block

Lol, yes it is.
If it's the one stud and isn't affecting anything just put more oil in and go until you decide to break it open.

Mine did the same thing years ago. That stud holds the webbing under the intermediate shaft bearing, and can pull just like others if it wasn't timeserted or otherwise strengthened at it's attachment point in the case. In my engine, they tapped the hole for a threaded bolt with an O ring. It held fine for many years until I had Henry at Supertec rebuild the engine with Casesavers throughout.
