Any Porsche histoy for Peru Red?
Some of us Peru red folks are wondering why this color was offer of a short period of time, 75-77? I have heard that it was offered as a factory option on some later RS versions.
Was there any other history with this color? Carrera1975 |

Yeah, I believe Mark special-ordered his RSA in that color. It may be the only one, although I'm not sure of that.

I like that much better than my Guards Red. I never knew that color even existed until relatively recently.

My 1974 911 was Peru Red with a "Copper Red" full leather interior. It was the only 911 that I ever bought brand new and it was beautiful. The VIN is 9114103470...I wonder if it still exists?
To this day, it is my all-time favorite Porsche color. BTW, the paint code for Peru Red is 042

Peru Red
Well, since this thread began, I did get to see the RS in person in Pittsburgh at the Vintage Races in 2011. I also met up with another Peru Red owner last week and snapped a few photos.

If you can't find any evidence of a repaint then it is most likely custom ordered - not unheard of. A Certificate of Authenticity should also show the color (but they have been known for their mistakes).

If I were to color change my '84 Peru Red would be right at the top of the list. Polo being a close second.
