Wall art
My wife has finally stimulated me to do a facelift
On my garage after living in the house for 15 years. PO insulated walls and hung T111 on most of the walls So I am 1 step ahead of the game. I put in a modine Heater a few years ago and replaced the windows. We are whitewashing the dark brown walls and plan on Doing floor (more on that later). I have some mix & match posters hung around but no real theme. Looking for some cool posters worthy of framing and hanging. Been on a bunch of sites with some mixed results. Finally to my question. Any recommendation's of on line vendors to spruce things up? Must be car related. Thanks. P.s. will post my progress as I move along.

Custom Posters from Pictures
I was thinking of doing something of the same. There are a lot of these sites on the net, coupled with all the pictures on the net...you can have just about anything! Good luck... |

Just a word of warning on the floor: DO NOT USE THE EPOXY PAINT/SEALER. I (well my father) made the mistake of putting the stuff down over the concrete floor in our garage when we repainted it. I begged him not to... We did not use the little chips that came with it for "traction" not that they would have done much but if there is any moisture on the floor it turns into an ice rink. I have fallen numerous times and had some close calls near the walls. Our garage is partially underground so the moisture is almost unbearable in the summer. These issues are greatly amplified if oil gets anywhere. The other big issue is solvents. If they drip on the floor, lets be honest if you do any semi serious work on your car break clean and the like will at some point get on the floor. Stuff like break clean, gas, or other strong solvents completely mess up the epoxy paint. When you try to clean it up it only turns into a bigger mess. Jacks with casters that are not spinning well will also scratch it up nicely. On top of all these things since it is almost water tight if you have humidity in your garage it will build up under the car and not go anywhere which can degrade the underbelly of your car. My 944 which is stored in that garage is visibly wet in the summer due to the moisture trap. If you have a concrete floor I would avoid putting anything over it. Some people have those nice tiles but i have never worked with them so I cant comment.
As for Posters, ebay has treated me well, I have found some really nice stuff for cheap it all depends what you are looking for. Another thing I like doing is framing old Car and Driver issues open to some release article for a 911. I managed to snag a 1964 January issue which has the 911 on the cover at a flea market for like $2 it is now on the wall in my apartment. Vintage magazine adds are also nice. If you are looking for vintage stuff here are some reasonable price suggestions. its a reprint but its really nice if you like golf if you like packing peanuts and the 80's for that vintage feel if you love boost I actually have this one and its really nice another repo but a cool poster none the less Anyway you get the idea. I have scored some great stuff at antique stores, flea markets and the like but they are very very hit or miss. Id say I get good Porsche stuff 20% of the time but its all about the hunt. If you can wait for the Hershey swap meet you will find lots of great posters there. Regards Dave

My local Porsche dealer had or may still have a bunch of vintage Porsche posters for free in their parts department as they were cleaning out their offices upstairs. Dealers get tons of stuff from The manufacturers so it might be worth a shot next time you are there but usually they toss most the stuff or the cool ones give it away to customers.

I had this long hood sitting, and nobody wanted it. So I made a picture/Magnet board out of it.

On EBay I bought every magazine that featured a 1984 carrera, then I framed them and hung em up.
I've also bought various banners and such as well to hand around the garage ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I dig seeing pics of homemade/custom art. So far I've only progressed to framing posters/prints.

Found this great site with pretty high res scans of hundreds of race programs and posters you can download for free.
I am having about a dozen printed on laminated 18 x 24 board at a $9.99 each special at Staples; then I'll go to Michaels and get some plain black frames. The Programme Covers Project ![]() Resolution reduced for posting. ![]() My 911: ![]()

Wall art? For decades Porsche has been creating the finest wall art available: factory posters!
If you want to find the good stuff, come to the Porsche & VW Lit Meet at the LAX Hilton on March 7th. Last edited by fbarrett; 10-18-2014 at 06:00 PM.. Reason: For the pure, unmitigated hell of it. |
