Best source for helmet graphics?
Anyone know of good source for helmet graphics or custom painting? I'm tired of the plain white helmet.

There are tons of graphic artists that do this for bike helmets, try a search on Custom painted helmets and airbrushing...
I've seen decal sheets in motorcycle catalogs too...

Tim,
Post your pics here, please. I'm looking for more ideas for helmets. Most of the websited I've found have motorcycle helmets that are a bit wild for my tastes. I guess I'm a litt;e on the conservative side.

Jeff,
These guys are down in Oregon. http://www.blowsion.com/ They do some awesome helmets. They are expensive though. You can go to their gallery pages and check out some cool helmets.

OK -- I'm cheap, but I took out my Air Brush kit from when I used to do models, picked up some bright paint from the hobby shop and did it myself.
It looks just the way I wanted it to (good , bad or otherwise). True that up close it doesn't look as detailed as the Pro-Painted helmets but I'm of the belief that most of that is lost within the context of a 1.5+ mile race course. One of the conclusions which I've learned from many years as an amateur performer is that big and bold is the only thing that will be seen beyond 20 feet. When was the last time anyone saw something up close at a race course? ![]()

Re: Best source for helmet graphics?
Quote:
"I would first recommend the services of a helmet painter, since there is specialized knowledge of the helmet construction that is useful. Basically, any paint safe for fiberglass automotive finish is useable. The factory finish is Copon, so tell your paint store that is the surface that you are painting. You need not SAND the surface, merely scuff it so that paint will stick." |
