ignition coil and CDI test

Is there is a way to test the ignition coil and also to CDI box . My 1980 911 wont start has no spark at the spark plugs. I am scared to mess with this as I am told it will shock you

This doc and a volt meter recently helped me diagnose and a friend rebuilt my CDI. If you're poking around the coil with the key on or engine cranking, it's likely to get a shock.

If you follow this the testing is at the CDI plug which will not harm you. If your coil is bad, disconnect battery before remove/replace.

Have fun, it's truly simple once you grasp it.

So you had a bad coil or trigger wire? Which one.
