Blasted #*$%!@§! speaker wire door grommet
Both of my door speaker wires have gone the way of the dodo and I got a great explanation of how easy they are to replace...
Of course there is a "gotcha", The wire swap went fine but now that it is done I need to get the door grommet back in. I can get a finger on one side of it both inside and outside the door. I tried using some glycerine to help it slide home. The wife tried it with smaller hands. I even tried pushing it with screwdrivers and sticks through the speaker wire hole in the body. All of it just lets me exercise my vocabulary. So does anyone know a trick to seating the door grommet?

Been there...i think the easiest to do a proper job is to remove the door, not as bad as it sounds.

Done one on my SC. Worked by poking with screwdriver after much finagling... Def. Easier with door off. Cooper |

I feel your pain as I had the same problem. I managed to get mine in place with dish soap and wooden salad spoons. Takes lots of patients.

The "salad spoons" idea seems to be a good option. I think I'll try a dowel with a slot cut in it for the wire and run it through the inner body hole.
Also I got a PM that suggested using a hemostat to pull through from the inside which sounds doable. I'll report back with which option removes less hair.
