What are these brake cooling fans ? Kremer 935 K4

I ran across this picture of the stripped down Kremer 935 K4. Up front, on either side of the front oil cooler, behind the splitter diagonal support bars, there are some brake cooling fans I've never seen before. Can someone tell me what they are? I would like to know more about them.

Oh... And man does this car rule.

THANKS!

When they came in for a brake pad change, the cooling fans help lower the temps of the calipers , pads, rotors

More likely a sneaky way to pull a vacuum under the front of the car, later outlawed.

Not sure it would be a vacuum. More like just using the flow of air to plant the front. That's what Magnus was probably copying with his vented fenders at Sema

The whole setup offers more downforce with the airflow through the oil cooler exiting through the front fenders above the wheels, however, it does not appear that the brake cooling fans are pulling from the bottom up in this package, nor are they associated with the ducts exiting at the fenders. It appears they are pulling from the small black ducts planted on either side of the front cooler, and these would exit out of the rotors and out through the wheels. The BBS wheel fans may help pull that air out. Either way, I've not seen these types of brake fans before.

They appear to be some type of centrifugal or horizontal type drive.

However... it is difficult to see what's going on here. Maybe they ARE pulling from the bottom up.

Standard centrifugal blower would pull from the side of the housing opposite of the motor (pointing toward the pavement in the pic) and exhaust out the black duct (toward the brakes).

Centrifugal blower, outflow through the bellows hose, probably to cool the brakes, intake at the bottom, off the street.

What I think I know about fans to cool brakes is that they aren't as good as good front spoiler inlets and ducting of the fast flowing ambient air. But I have a friend who installed blowers which did not use this air source for the sole purpose of cooling his brakes when he comes in off the track at the end of a session. He says it prevents the heat sinking (heat soaking?) which causes problems he doesn't face when braking on the track. So these are for when he gets back into the paddock with brakes still very hot.

Which would be in line with the first suggestion made here.

So are we saying that the intakes that straddle the cooler are the primary source of brake cooling and the centrifugal blowers are there for auxiliary reasons? Is it possible that these are an ADDITIONAL source for controllable brake cooling (during cautions, pit stops, etc.) and that they ARE indeed pulling from the bottom, in the splitter area?

I'm still learning the aero setups on early Porsche race cars. On cup cars we find that we can pull up from behind the nose, and use this air for down force advantages, so I was thinking maybe that's what's going on here, if they are indeed pulling from the bottom up.

"What kind of fans"? Look in the engine compartment of any 911 SC. They draw air in through the large opening in front of the fan, exit air out the side.

They're obviously relocated footwell blowers.
