Check it out! Original Carrera RS badge -- eBay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1866218852

Is it really worth $300 US?

Everybody is welcome to bash me on this but as I sit here with my Tweeks calalog open to the "911 emblems/Decals" section I can not see any difference b'tween the two.

Since the likelyhood of an original RS needing to be rebadged is somewhat remote, but not unheard of, I think for the rest of us who would most likely be building an "RS clone" I think the Tweeks RS badge at $43.99 usd is a far more reasonable way to go, unless you have a real RS and then the "original" RS badging makes sense.

FWIW, IMHO only......

I can just see it.

"Yeah it's just a 2.4T motor. I couldn't afford the 2.7RS P+C's after I bought the badge."

Or how about...

"Yeah man, it's an authentic RS badge man. No, don't touch! As matter of fact don't even look at it."

These badges were also used in the '76 Carrera 2.7. They come up for sale on german Ebay now and then. I paid about 70$ for mine, original with nice patina.
It seems that quite a lot of RSs came with this alloy script.

PS 300$ yeah right...

The part number is correct for the 1973 Carrera 2.7 RS insignia. There can't be too many of those around

There are plenty of them around. If anyone's interested, I've got one I'll sell.

You'd be surprised what you can get from the Porsche dealers at prices better than some aftermarket places. I just got my RS rear bumpers from Porsche for much less than advertised by parts places. Same thing for the RS deco strip below the door.
My local dealer just found the last of the through-the-grill driving light kits, complete down to the switch on the dash. Not a bad price. So, I'd be careful of anything on eBay without checking out availability from other sources.
