Aftemarket driving lights wired into fog light circuit?
I'm clueless to all but the simplest issues with regards to automobile wiring. That being said I have removed the factory fog lamps and plan to mount 100w driving lights on the bumper/hood rally style.
Can I wire these to the fog light circuit? Is there a relay on this circuit? If not, should I install one? Would it be better to run 55w instead? Can I run 4 lights on what was oringinally wired for 2 fog lights? Thanks in advance. jim

Relays are a must. you will want to have the lights come on when you have your high beams on. i kept my fog lights but did the rally lights on the bumper thing. love it! Fogs work normally with low beam and rally lights with high.
![]() ![]() ![]() Get a rally light kit, it usually comes with relays and switches and instructions.

the 87 930 shows a fog lamp relay which REALLY surprised me. porsche does not believe in relays.
it would be easy for you to verify. just check your fuse panel for the relay. if you have one, jsut wire them up. 100w lights would be cruel to run all the time. 55w you could run all the time. why 4 lights.

Relays are a must, they are cheap and they are your friend. With relays you can do anything. I would power the relays from the headlight circuit that turns on the high beams but with an additional driving light switch near the dash that can turn on or off the additional circuitry. This way the driving lights will work in parallel with the high beams if the diving light circuit is turned on by the additional dash switch.
Love the look of the impact bumper mounted driving lights. I guess those could be LED lights.

normally fog lights/driving lights go OFF when the hi beams are on. but that being said i wired a set to stay on with both. kinda nice to have that extra power when some Ahole wont turn his hi beams off.
BTW, i have 60/100's in my H4's

Fog Lights.
![]() ![]() ^^^^^ Here's what I did. And yes, a relay is MANDATORY. Also, you may nee a higher amperage fuse along with a wiring upgrade. Good luck, Gerry
