WEVO Shift Coupler

Hi I need help, I just bought a WEVO Shift Coupler for a 915 Tranny, the problem is it doesn't fit in the shift rod, the wevo spindle is a little bigger then the stock one. How did you guys fit it please?

Thank You!

Did you try to pry open the connection on the shift rod?

It seems soft enough. I just replaced the bushing on my coupler and the rod end felt pretty easy to reshape.

I don't have one, but looking at the instructions on their site it looks to be a drop-in replacement. Have you tried removing the clamp and "spreading" the shift rod open a bit with a pry-bar in the slot in the end?

(Oops - I hit "reply" before faverymi posted; looks like we had the same solution.)

Thank you, I tried using a flat head screw driver, that didn't work. Heat it up or pipe expander?

That's what I meant spreading the end.

I feel heating it's a bit much and you have fuel lines and electrical.

I would "massage it " with anything mechanical. Pry bar, screw driver. Or pipe expander.

Have you try measuring the old coupler with new coupler shaft to compare sizes?

How far apart can they be right???

And yes the clamp is removable. That may be all you need to adjust not the rod
(that's what I meant with opening it)

I am pretty sure the coupler is designed to work fine with the factory clamp, and that is the way I installed mine when I first used it. After a few R&R operations (my application is a race car), my clamp got a little stretched, so I bought the unit sold by Wevo for about $40.

If you continue to have trouble, I am sure that Wevo can provide support by telephone.

The Wevo spindle is slightly larger then stock, that's what is causing my problem, i'll try prying it again next week. Thanks
