Removing an aftermarket dash pad cover?
Team:
I have a squeaky brown aftermarket dash which is about 80% OK but about 20% infuriating (squeaks, warps, lack of fit, etc.) I'm considering it removing and revealing the horrors likely to be below on the original dash pad. I've tugged at it a few times but it seems to be locked in place hard, though no visible attachments or screw heads etc. Could be glue but I'm nervous about making a mess if I really pull hard. Any advice on how to get this thing out and get back to basics? |

If it's a hard plastic cover, they were designed to be glued on with silicone cement, usually supplied with the product. That's probably the resistance you are feeling.

Generally not for the covers.
First thing I did when I got my car was pull the horid dash cover, expecting it to be terrible undernearth. To my suprise, there was just one small crack on an otherwise perfect dash. No idea what the PO was thinking. Most of the project since has been removing all the silicone caulk.
