How did they do it?
It's been bugging me for a while now. .. how they hell did they print/paint gauge faces back in the day ?
I've inspected and they seem to be painted, but the tiny font sizes seem impossible. I guess the same would apply for watch faces. Anyone know ? ![]() |

Screen printed? Depending on the method you can get some really fine details.

Ya I considered that, but you can't screen print a curved surface, have a look on the top. It wasn't stamped after either

Screen printed (silkscreen) and formed into a dish after. Not that difficult.
