Targa bar refinishing

This winter I'm going to refinish my targa bar on my 82 SC. It's currently painted black to match the car but is peeling in spots and is fading. I was originally going to just repaint to match the car because the rest of the trim is black and raw stainless would stick out. But was thinking... What if I stripped and polished and then clear coated with some black tint in it? Has anyone done this? I think stainless with a dark tint would be pretty cool. Not sure if its even possible. What do y'all think?

Regards,
Brian Petry

Brian... nice idea. I say go for it. Worst case is you discover what you don't like. Best case, you innovate the amazing. Had mine redone in satin black power coat. Shop blasted and coated entire bow for $220. Took about a week.
