Carbon fiber hood and decklid (Opinions please)

Hi guys,
Well I'm stuck between getting a hood and decklid in normal carbon fiber (black) or having them custom made in blue carbon fiber.
My car is an Ocean Blue Metallic 993. (the dark blue)
Only problem is the blue carbon fiber pieces will double the cost. Same weight savings though. Also I haven't been able to find any pics of a blue car with the black carbon.
Any opinions?

Well,

why don't you paint the Carbon fiber in your paint-blue, not the blue carbon? If you want people to see the carbon, like the ricer crowd's Hondas, etc. with the carbon, I like the way the plain black looks. The blue carbon wouldn't do anything for me. IMHO only. Good luck.

Only CF that looks right IMHO is the natural black/grayish-silver checker pattern that it has, if you add the colored ones it'll be way ricey. Other than that, I think the decklid in CF and the front trunk lid in CF is a bit too much, personally I'd just go with the front cover. It's your call, enjoy your car.

later,

amir

I would't leave the carbon un-painted...

UV light breaks down the epoxy and CF. It will get more and more brittle untill you start seeing stress cracks... Not easily repaired. Sure it's looks awesome, but only untill it slowly disintegrates...

If you want cosmetics... look elsewhere... If you want weight savings, go with fiberglass, it can also be repaired.

I have a few CF parts on my bike, primarily for looks... Not for weight.

I've never found any good reason to go with carbon fiber body parts. Too much cost for too many headaches. IMO, fiberglass is the way to go.

If you go for black carbon fibre, then why not do a Ferrari F50 paint job on it - apply the (blue) paint so thin that you can still see the weave?
