I doubt if anything is in the works yet, according to a couple of the vendors I spoke to, the Porsche brass were very impressed with the success of IV and were talking about a possible repeat at Laguna Seca. I think it will be two years before the public would know the when and where. Ya shoulda dropped everything buddy....Cheers

I'd put a small amount of money on Laguna Seca, mid October 2014.

That based on attendance of >20,000 vs. 3,500 for the last one, not to mention it is a great track, and it is close to so many guys with lots of old Porsche racecars in their collections. Canepa for one.

Unless I'm dead I'm definitely making the trip to the next one.

I was at the Daytona one as well. I don't know the official number but it certainly seemed like there were more than 3500. I agree though that Californis is where its at for Porsches. Monterey/Carmel is also a great place to be for a few days.

I read that figure in an online newspaper article. Could be wrong. I think both those figures were the number of three day tickets sold for each event.

Last one was 2007 and this one was 2011 so I would bet on 2015.

By that time California should have outlawed everything except pedal cars so who knows...

But prior to that it was every 3 years is my understanding. The first three were spearheaded by Brian Redman but this time he was kind of gone around at first, then asked to join in. This one was not really part of the series then. It was the start of a new one after it had died out.

Just a point of note from somebody based in Florida who went to both RRIII and IV.

I would like to offer that a large percentage of the cars in the event came from Florida shops. Brumos, Gunnar, Klub Sport, and the Collier collection were part of the backbown of this years event.....

I also doubt very much that there were only 3,500 in attendance at RRIII. Crowd size seemed almost comparable to me.

Don't get me wrong I very much enjoyed my time at Laguna but it wasn't night verses day compared to RRIII. In fact there was a lot of heavy factory hardware that did/could not make the trip this time around. The really famous cars that now reside in the new factory museum were not here this year...

are you saying there was only 3,500 visitors to rrIII? Seemed like allot more than that to me.

The article seemed to say that but I think that both those numbers were the number of three day tickets sold. This was my first Rennsport. There did not seem to be that many people there compared to an ALMS race.

This was my third. For the racer/participants it was something of a joke logistically. I thought RRIV was less busy than I expected, and by Sunday it was practically a ghost town. Maybe just because the viewing public is more spread out than at Daytona. When I was at LS for the GP last year the turn 4 bleachers were 100% full. At RRIV I don't think I ever seen more 20 people in the same bleachers and by the last race on sunday it was less than a handful.

I missed it too but a lot of the Porsche Museum cars and other significant cars were there like numerous 550s and 718s, the Dreikantscheibers, two 804 F1 cars, the Martini 917 with patina, the Martini 908.3 and the Brumos RSR, those last three which were at Rennsport until Saturday.

I was like a kid in a candy store watching your videos Wayne and looking at everyones pictures.

Although not a "car" person , when told where the event was held my wife said she would have liked to have gone and would go if held there again.

I heard 35000 attended RSIV, and also heard from a couple drivers that the organizers were very impressed with the event and are considering a return to LS in 3 years...

Darn, that's a long time to wait ...

I went to RRIII & RRIV, & I agree - attendance at IV seemed higher, but not all that much higher (although I only attended IV on Friday/Saturday, not Sunday).

As for the museum cars that were at III & not IV, remember that III featured 917s & 956s/962s, whereas IV featured 911 racing variants.
