964 G50 & 3.6 to SC

So I've done some searching and read a few conversion threads regarding the G50 into a sc. Many use the shortened bell housing to keep the engine in the correct location.
What I have is a complete 964 C2 and would like to do the G50 with the 3.6 into it. The car is a 1980 Sc and I'll be doing the coil over conversion. Has anyone done this conversion by removing enough material in the torsion housing and floor area to move it far enough forward?
I can do all the metal fab etc no problem but would like to see what others have run into.

Thanks for your help.

Search Brummie over on ImpactBumpers, he is part way through a similar project.

911 Bus: Since you're going coilover and are a competent fabricator, I think this job is relatively easy. I'm presently doing this by cutting away the area of the torsion tube between the two trailing arm mounts than fab'g cap plates (to the now open tube ends) that extend forward to the kick panel and upward to the jump seat bottoms. This is similar to how the factory did it on the later Carreras but my plates contact about twice as much area as the factory did. I'd consider adding plates to the seat bottoms where your tie plates will contact so to distribute the loading on thicker material across a broader area. I'll try to add pics later but hopefully you get the idea......

Thanks for the info everyone.
Metalracer, if you have some photos of your conversion that would be a big help.

Thanks!

Here you go. Keep in mind my plates are a little longer since I'm also converting the car to run 930 arms.

I installed a 95 3.6 with an 89 G50 shortened by Patrick Motorsports

...into an 86 Carrera.

In my experience the shortened G50 was not short enough and l had to cut away the outer torsion tube. Yeah it's ugly

In addition I let the engine move 1/2" rearward and modified the engine carrier instead of simply bending the engine cross member as others have done.
