450 hp and only $75k !!!! An absolute bargain compared to the Porsche and Ferrari competition.

Expect to see a lot of them on the tracks everywhere next year. Compare to a quarter million dollar Porsche GT3R, it's a bargain.

Wow. That is definitely amazing. Is it just me or has anyone else mistaken the new 350z for a 996 while on the street (at a quick glance) only to find out its a Nissan for half the cost when you get closer? Very intriguing though.....might have to save for one of these things.

I agree that the styling is something to get used to (if ever- heh heh heh) but jeez, to be able to get a turn key race car for slightly more than 1/4 the cost of the Porsche..... pause for thought! And you know that Nissan Motorsports is going to support the teams very well with tech and parts availability. Even with Porsche's traditionally high resale value, this new combo will be hard to beat

My neighbor just got a new silver 350Z last week. I personally love it. I wish they could shave off the lights in the back and make some headlight changes but other than that the car is real sweet and has a nice sound. I think it will give my (when it's finished ) 84 targa 3.6 a run for it's money.
Of course it shifts much more precise than my 84 with 915 tranny and he is a way better driver. |

Todd,
Do you really think it will give a 3.6ltr that doesn't weigh as much a real run?? .. huh I wonder.. It will something to see how that little thing scoots along after it's all done! i know most of you guys like it .. but i really don't care for it.. there is guy here in town who already thinks he is the MAN! if you know what i mean because he has one... i'd love get a 3.6 with my SC.. (which couldn't weigh much now after all the crap I have removed... ) a run .. maybe i can run into one at the local Auto-X and smoke him.. or lap better at a DE... I simply don't like them.. I still feel that PORSCHE will return to the top of Sports car racing !! .. I can feel it .. I already have the shirt/ hat and flag to wave at the races when they do!! Eric ![]() ![]()

Unfortunately he is already having problems with it! Out of all the cars I have driven or taken a ride in lately I think the Corvette ZO6 is the only one that comes close to feeling like the 350Z, of course the ZO6 would take it without question. My wife works with a lady that has a WRX and I must say that it is one fine ride. I got to drive it on a tight twisty road and it corners incredibly. |

Im really liking the 350Z....
I had a 240Z concurrently with a 911E both were sweet cars..... with very different handling traits. I think both accelerated equally as well but they handeld differently. I kind of wish I had a 240Z next to my 911 in my garage ( like the old days)!!!!! This 350Z looks like a nice car! and I am sure it will be succes on the racing circuits

Man !! Todd. I hate to hear that.. 1st being that it's a shaker & a mover! and that he is already having issues.. that really sucks!! No one likes to have problems.. . i hope he gets it sorted out. Man! you Well I'll have to still stick to my guns on my thoughts on the car. It sounds like a real sports car.. I know Porsche will fight back at these other car makers!! they Have too.
![]() I think I .. (But that sure as hell doesn't mean i am right) that I well sorted early 911 with a 3.6 would work it over in a track.. as well as on the straight drag. haha One must believe in something! ![]() ![]() See ya ![]() Eric 78SC

Let's see - 450 bph tips the scales at 2420 lbs... $75,000
2420 lbs includes a roll bar - beefed up brakes and a bump in the bore to 3.6 L. Looks like some serious rubber on there too! Take a long look at the front ![]() because on the track, all you'll see is... ![]() ![]() |

Price Premium Question
So how much longer will Porsche be able to command the exhorbitant premiums that's driving their much bragged-about astronomical profit margins?
The Z06 is more car for the money than the 996TT, at about 1/3 the price. The worked-over 350Z is a fraction of the price of the Porsche equivalent. An NSX is (IMHO) a sexier car than a 996. Heck, A WRX will give a Boxster a run for half the money. There's only so much bling-value to be wrung from the "Porsche" badge, and bling don't count for 5h!t when you get your hat handed to you by a car that's a fraction of the price. The balance of the badge's value was mortgaged to get into the SUV race. If I were buying a new sports car, I'm not sure a Porsche would even make the short list, considering the go:dough ratio.
