Barn Find Addition to the Garage '69 911T

Hi Everyone,

After acquiring the 79 930 I began my hunt for a early LWB 911. After scouring the web I was able to find a craigslist posting and within 4 hours the car was mine!

Details on the 911T:

1969 911T
Matching numbers, was sitting for over 10 years.
Original records since it was imported in 69.

Black on black

Paint is very worn and has several dents and areas that require attention.

As for the interior: Its in great shape overall (I guess)

Here lies the problem. The carpet is petrified/crusty. Looks good but is solid as a rock. And the car smells moldy.

Any suggestions on how to recondition the carpet and the moldy subfloor would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

It turns over but haven't drained the tank or cleaned the lines yet. I will update everyone on the engine next week.

My $0.02 would say it all depends on the back padding of the carpet and your goals for the car. If I was trying to salvage the carpet I would try to simply clean it with a shampooer, give it a chance to dry well and see how it holds up. Obviously you want to remove the mold, so your going to have to go on the offense somewhat. I think the only other option is if your willing is to replace the carpet with a reputable shop. I am not sure if you have tackled carpet before but it's doable in a weekend easily. Also depending if it's the original carpet which I am assuming it is, I think that's your only real shot without replacing. Great car and find, congrats and please keep sharing. Hope this helps.

Hi

I have an 81 SC Coupe and I found it in a farmers field. Only in Canada would you see this type of things. LOL !!! Anyway it had moldi everywhere and smelled like an old dead carp. What worked the best on everything was scrubbing everything with some water and Fantastic. I think you can come across it in the US. Also a product called Hertal which is sold in Canadian Tire stores is really effective but wear gloves and dilute a bit in water.
After I finished that I went over everything with Fabreeze which I let soak into the carpet and let it dry. I vacuumed the residue and away I went
It was a bit time consuming but seeing its snowing outside it broke the boredom of winter LOL. Hope this helps. Good luck with your project

Super: Replied to your PM.......Before carpet:
1) Brakes - Check for stuck calipers and make sure master cyl is OK. Often requires rebuild calipers, MC and new flexible brake lines....The lines swell and block the return of fluid when letting off brake pedal. This causes brakes to drag.
2) Tank and fuel lines like you mentioned.
3) Carbs - Probably Tin-40's, but could be webers.....Either way, check to make sure idle and low speed systems are not plugged....Make sure you get a shot of fuel from the acel pump. these passages are tiny and get plugged. Diaphrams and gaskets get brittle.

G'luck
