Where to find "light red" leather upholstery?

Hi -

I'm looking for light red leather to recover some aftermarket seats with. Any ideas where I can find some?

Thanks!

Thanks. I did see that. I'm really just looking for the material though as my seats aren't stock.

"light red"

Depending on what year car you have light red can be a different color red. For instance Light Red in a model year 1980 911 is code 80B in a 79 it is 8AT In an 81-82 it is just Red 80S. In 78 there is a Lobster Red 8AH or Light Red 8AT. Also leather and fabric colors in red may vary. If you want the true Porsche color you need to make sure your upholsterer knows what they are doing and where to order the material.
I have an 88 Carrera Coupe with Can Can Red.

I still love your Carrerra! A few things changed in regards to the interior codes throughout that era. The cars prior to 80 had red door tops and dash, for 80 it went to the 2 tone. Somewhere a bit later I believe the red carpet came back into play. The codes you stated detail out the trim, material, carpet, etc. What I'm looking for is the color code 95 which is named Light Red.

Truth be told it's so old that it's probably closer to a new lobster red now.

Thanks. Maybe I'll order a couple samples to see how close they can come.

For reference, light red (code 95) was available for 911's and 930's from 1977 to 1981. It changed to Can Can red in 1982. My late-79 silver U.S. 930 has a two-tone light red and black interior. The black dash/rear shelf/door tops were a requirement for light red for the 1980 model year (my 1979 930 build occured in Porsche's 1980 MY). Black or light red carpets could be ordered with a light red interior.

The best source (s) I've seen for interior fitment are the Porsche + Audi fact books and these were what the dealers used to order interiors. The Original Porsche 911 and 911 Red books are great references but they differ from the fact books in that Can Can Red was actually first used in 1982. Can Can is a different shade than light red, and lobster (1977 & 1978) is different (more orange) as well.

To your original question, I don't believe anyone stocks light red leather (it will probably be Can Can, Lipstick, or Lobster).

Thanks rlane! That's what I've been reading!

Is that one of the last 50 cars I've been reading about?

If you wouldn't mind id love to send you out a rear seat bottom or a piece of leather to compare against yours. I'm curious to know if what I have is what I'm supposed to have. I can go from there on whether it's worth it to track down some hides in the right color.

red interior

Great 930 with red interior and good advice for the Pelican. When I redid my interior I did a similar Can Can Red and black interior. Black carpet, black leather dash, A pillars and rear deck and also did a rear seat delete.
Great thread on red interior questions!!

Very nice! Can Can red/black looks very nice with your exterior color. One of the last 50 U.S. 1979 930's was black with two-tone light red/black interior and I'm sure it's stunning. It last surfaced when it was for sale in a 1984 Robb Report magazine.
