to tint or not to tint, that's the question!!!
I am getting a 1983 911SC and the windows are clear. I am curious to hear what you all suggest.

I recently lived just south of RPV and surfed indicators all the time. But now I am in the GREAT PNW!!!

No tint.

A PO installed a not-so-dark tint in my car. I have had the car for 13 years & never liked it, so I recently had it removed. MUCH better! I'm not a fan of tint. But what really matters is what you like.

I have tint on the vehicles that will be left in sunlight in parking lots. This will not be subjected to mundane tasks. I am thinking no tint.

Yes, do the lightest tint, it will help reduce the heat on the B on B car and save your interior from the UVs and you :-)
You had enough sun's UVs to last yeah as a surfer :-) I have light in front and Limo on my targa back |
That's actually a pretty good idea. I'll see what the lightest tint the local shops can do.

3M has a UV clear that you can use. All the of the same protection.
You have time before deciding, the sun won't be around until June here. :) |
It's your car; do what you want. Congrats on the purchase!
But personally, I'm a no-tint kind of guy. Heck, in proper sporting spirit, what race car has tinted windows? I live in L.A. Maybe not the hottest place on earth, but we get about 3 weeks straight of triple-digit days in the summer. Even in the middle of winter we regularly get 80-degree days. My DD (not the 911) is a black car that gets parked outdoors. So the car gets a little hot. Just roll down the windows and drive a little faster. Having lived in PDX, I'm not sure window tint is as necessary in the PNW as some feel it is for warmer/sunnier climates. Maybe I should look into that clear UV film that timmy2 mentioned. Perhaps that's a good compromise. |
Yup, your car. :)
Mine are tinted. I have limo tint for the rear Targa glass. Found our it helps when the idiots that drive with their high beams on come up behind you. My rear view mirror switch thingy broke from age, so I can't adjust it for high beams anymore. Alarick, Patrick Brass has tinted windows on his race car. :D |
I use this guy .
FAQS The "clear" uv film will add a slight tint to clear glass , it still looks stock though .. |
I would say NO tint unless it gets parked in the sun a lot.

My black 911 SC has only the rear window tinted and I LOVE it.
It makes the car look like more windows are tinted, keeps the headlights a bit dimmer and keeps the car cooler. |
|
The PO of my 88 coupe tinted the windows of my car with "light tint" all around. This is my 3rd 911 and frankly I never was a fan of the tinted look however I think it looks great if it's not too dark. It's so much better to drive as it keeps the hot sun off of you especially with the marginal AC our cars have.
Here's a pic. I say go for it!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1420387638.jpg |
I've got an 80SC. The PO tinted the windows (he was in Tenn). I'm in CT.
Love the tint during the day, hate it at night. |
