911 sc warm start prob continues
Hi All,
I have followed awesome advise on here for a while and it has helped with many tricky situations. I have another doozy now! My 79 sc was not starting while warm so as suggested by the euro mechanics up the road and by many on here I changed the accumlator. Thought while I had that out i may as well change the filter also. any how ended up removing tank and cleaning, blowing out all lines, replacing fuel pump accumulator and filter...put it all back together and she started straight away...but after driving to the petrol station to fill her and turning her off....car wouldnt re-start HELP!!What else could be going on? Thanks |

I call that the shot gun approach of dealing with a problem without a diagnosis that usually never works. Did you check to see if you had residual pressure with the warm engine?

If I read your post correctly, however, you did replace the pump, accumulator and filter (you did not put a comma between pump and accumulator in your post.) Residual pressure must be tested even though you replaced the two components that most likely cause a loss of pressure. If the pressure still does not hold, it could be your WUR or the pressure relief valve in the fuel distributor, or even a faulty fuel pump check valve right out of the box. Point is, you won't know if your warm start problem is pressure related until you test. That, IMO, should be your next step. If your residual pressure checks out to spec, you still have air leaks that can cause an issue for warm starts but first things first. Eliminate residual fuel pressure as a cause, then, if necessary, move on.

marumali, It is a common practice or protocol for new members like you to post a picture of his/her car. You'll be surprised how fast help would come after seeing your ride. I'll wait for the posting. Tony |

Real simple but you have to find it. boyt911sc is the one to listen to. He is very methodical. No silver bullet. Just basic grunt work AND a set of pressure gauges. It will be the best $125 you can spend on a CIS car.

Make sure your non-return valve at the pump is good.
