Monitoring Outside Temps
The on-board-computer in the last three Bimmers we have owned all have a thermometer for measuring the outside temperature. I like knowing the outside temps as I drive to work and other places. Unfortunately, our new 964 has no such OBC nor thermometer.
Have any of you installed, or improvised an outside temp thermometer for their car? Or have ideas or know of after market products that will fill the need? (Other than buying a tacky window stick-on thingee Thanks much. Chuck |

I have a 66 912 that has a factory out side temp gage, That has F,andC, It fits in the far left gage hole and has the colors of the early gages the temp probe if you will mounts up in the front fender.

The simplest way might be to get a $10 digital thermometer from the hardware store, and mount it inside the glove box, with the probe running to the front fender.

There was also a factory VDO outside temperature gauge (analog, black face/white numerals, roughly 2" in diameter) that came mounted in the center console of the '89 Silver Anniversary Carreras. Don't know of any obvious mounting locations in a 964, or where you would find one, but it may be an option. Tim |

One of my 356s way back then had a MotoMeter inside/outside temperature gauge, complete with little red light that came on when outside temp was below freezing. Many BMW from the 80s up have these as part of the on-board trip computer. A nice feature.

Dave, you may not want to get this crazy, but you can pick up one of the new gentex rear view mirrors on ebay fairly cheap that has a digital temp in it. And it's the same one they put in the new cars.
