Got our rooms at the Embassy Suites in Seaside changed. Price was about the same. However, if you want to go, don't wait to make reservations as they will fill up very quickly.
Ores comes to worse, Salinas may have rooms if Monterey, Seaside, and Carmel fill up. |
Marina also has hotels nearby, and there are various home rental options through a number of resources.
Salinas does not have as many nice choices as the other nearby cities. There will be a scramble for rooms, and rates may go up several fold in the coming few days. |
I'm guessing that the WEC schedule had yet to be finalized when the original dates were picked versus the Germans screwing up. I'm just saying.
If people are willing to drive half an hour or so, Castroville, Watsonville, Capitola and Santa Cruz are all options. Last night when I was rebooking on Expedia it said 400 people were shopping for rooms in and around Monterey! |
We rebooked at the same place in Monterey, same rooms, for $11 more per room. Not a big deal for us.
I googled the golf tournament, its only a big deal to the participants and their family's, not likely to be many spectators. |
Sand City, Pacific Grove, Carmel, and obviously Monterey are the closest towns if searching for hotels. I understand there is also a Golf tournament going on that weekend, so make any arrangements while you still may be able to.

The golf tournament won't draw as many out-of-town spectators as the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am with all the celebs.

I posted this on another Forum and it may be helpful here:
Prior to RR IV, there were some (limited) opportunities for folks to drive cars outside of the vintage/historic groups at RR events. As far as I know, these folks were not driving under any PCA DE or Club Racing umbrella, and I do not know what process folks used to try to sign up. For RR IV, PAG/PMNA had eight run groups. Only one of these groups was for folks outside of the historic/vintage arena. PCA Club Racing ran this group, allowing up to 50 licensed PCA Club Racers to race under their sanction. So this was kind of a PCA Club Race within a larger event. PCA announced an opportunity to participate in this group well ahead of RR IV, and established a registration process that allowed entries several months before RR IV. At a designated time on a designated date, folks were allowed to register using the PCA Club Racing registration on-line resource. In the first 5 minutes of on line registration, all 50 slots were taken, and a large waiting list was formed in the ensuing minutes, hours and days. PCA managed this list, and as folks dropped off, new folks were added. I imagine that a similar process might be used for RRV for those wishing to drive/race outside of the vintage/historic arena. If this is the case, I imagine that far more folks will try to sign up than the number of slots in the group, just like we experienced with RRIV. I was one of the lucky first 50 for RRIV, and I drove in that event. I know a few others that were in the first 50 but dropped out, and I know some folks that got in off of the waiting list. A few folks that were in this group double-dipped as they were invited by PAG/PMNA to run their factory race cars in one of the vintage/historic groups as well. So they took up a few slots that could have been occupied by regular club racers. I cannot imagine a situation where PAG/PMNA would mix club racers with those driving historically significant/vintage cars in the same race group. So I think folks should expect a potential opportunity to race, but that it will be a competitive entry situation, just like what was experienced for RR IV. Of course there are scenarios where more than 50 could get in, but that might mean more than one group. |
