Rennsport reunion - DATE CHANGE

Porsche Announces Date Change for Rennsport Reunion V

Get those reservations changed....

RonDent 01-23-2015 03:27 PM

At least they didn't wait until the LAST minute. I hope you all can change your reservations. Or for you guys that couldn't get reservations, here's your change.

This is awesome news...was not going to be able to attend the original date!!!

Matt Monson 01-23-2015 03:59 PM

Thanks for the heads up.

AND in the effort to really deflate your wallet, the NEW date is the same weekend as a major golf tournament in Monterey as well !
So... you get the privilege to spend a LOT more for a hotel room that you might not be able to find !

Wilhelm 01-23-2015 04:51 PM

Surprising to me how Porsche screwed this up

bavaria911 01-23-2015 05:15 PM

I was able to change the hotel room to the new dates. Glad I did buy plane tickets yet.

I changed my dates and the cost was the same.

What Hotel ? Same room rate $$ ?

big911fan 01-23-2015 05:21 PM

This could get really interesting! How are they going to notify everyone that has a hotel reservation but hasn't bought their RR V tickets yet? I'd be a little teed off if I showed up two weeks late and already paid $400 for a hotel room in Monterey.

What part of the schedule didn't they understand when they planned the original date?

This was posted on the Early S Registry site:

Hello Porsche Family and Friends:

"As the subject of this e-mail states, we’ve taken the unpleasant but necessary step(s) to move the date for Rennsport Reunion V, resolving the conflict with the World Endurance Championship (WEC) race in Fuji.

"The new date is two weeks earlier, September 25 – 27, 2015.

"I assure you the decision was not made lightly. We understand many of our enthusiastic fans have already made their hotel reservations, travel and vacation plans based off the earlier date. However, the fact that our 919 Hybrid LMP1 and 911 RSR teams, along with the factory works drivers and engineers that go with them can now attend our greatest celebration was just too powerful to ignore.

"As we checked for alternative availability, rumors began circulating, especially in the past week and we wanted you to hear it from us first. There will be an official press release distributed shortly after 6:00 pm, EST today.

"As always, please reach out if you have any questions or concerns. We are looking forward to seeing you all, more than ever, in Monterey in September!"

Yes, thanks for the heads up.

It does seem to be an unlikely oversight and I don't understand how they could have bungled that one up, but I'm glad there's nine months of advance notice.

What are the towns I should search under for hotels? Any close towns that may be under the radar to search for that may be more reasonable?

Perhaps Seaside or Salinas.

Surprisingly my hotel room was actually a wee bit cheaper. But now I might have a work conflict. Fkking Porsche.

RSBob 01-23-2015 06:37 PM

This is ****** fantstic. Moved to my son's wedding date right in the middle of it.

Jack Olsen 01-23-2015 06:49 PM

Very un-German of Porsche to screw this up.

Still, my hotel got cheaper (not a lot, but still). 'Hilton Garden Inn,' if someone is looking. I don't know anything about it, but I'm guessing it's not close to the golf tournament.

Canada Kev 01-23-2015 06:59 PM

I was booked there (Hilton Garden) but their site now shows no rooms available for that weekend. Had to book down the street at the Hotel Abrego, which still has a couple rooms, apparently.

Wilhelm 01-23-2015 07:26 PM

I agree with Jack:
"Very un-German of Porsche to screw this up."
