Tool Question

Hi All –
I am looking for recommendations on cut off tools/wheels, and grinding tools/wheels.

I would be using the cut off tool and wheels for basic body work, as well as for metal as big as 1/8” angle iron.

On the grinding side, it would be used for smoothing welds and shaping thicker metal here and there.

I am guessing air driven is the way to go (I have a good compressor)

I have an electric Cable Porter that recently died that was a pretty good grinder, but it was big and did not work very well in tight spots. Instead of replacing it, I thought it would be a good time to get the right tools for the job.

Thanks –
Scott S

Scott,

I have a very good Bosch 4-1/2 grinder, but I have become quite fond of my $9.99 Harbor Fright 4" and 4-1/2" grinders. we now have 4 of them ( I know....) each set up with a different disc for each different purpose; cut-off, coarse flap disc, medium flap disc, etc.... They are cheep and if used this way have lasted for 3 years thru a few projects.

Thanks Jon -
I am not a tool snob - if it works, it works. Are these air or electric?

Thanks Again -
Scott S

Take a look at CPO outlets.
They have great deals on quality tools and free shipping if you sign up.
I bought a great Fein grinder really cheap last fall.

Electric. No need to punish the compressor.
