Staggered wheel set?

Went to the dealer on Friday to pick up some seals and clamps for my gas tank reno project. It was quiet, so they showed me around the shop - this baby was in the corner - first one I have seen up close.

I didn't know this before, but 918 wheels are 20" front + 21" rear - so I started wondering if anyone has done this on an older car - meaning staggered wheel size. My 89 has 6 + 8 x 16, both with an overall tire diameter of 25" (also with varying tire pressures - 36 rear, 29 front). Wondering if anyone has ever bolted on something like 8 x 16 fronts, 9 x 17 rears?

There may be a good reason why this is a dumb idea, I don't know if it would even look any good. Just asking the question.

I asked the same question a few years ago about a 16" rear/15" front combo. Its been done.

The main problem might be getting matching tires ? 17 , 18 would not be too hard but finding a 16 that is the same brand, tread pattern performance as a 17 might not be possible.

Some options for this do exist, but not a lot.

Thanks for the responses. I just bought Continental DW's in stock sizes for my 6's & 8's, looks like 255 40ZR 17 would match up. I may try this out.
