Brake res. question
Spurred on by another post about overflowing brake reservoirs, can I ask a question that you guys may be able to crystal ball for me.
Why would the previous owner have blocked the overflow pipe at the reservoir? The tube is still there just hanging behind the false wall that covers the air distribution system to the interior etc. The brakes aren't great but that's just because they need renewing. So why do you reckon he did that? Thanks Mark

Maybe he didn't know the proper routing: typically forward and out through one of the plastic body plugs behind the front bumper on the driver's side. Perhaps he knew it was an overflow and put a plug in it in hopes of not dumping fluid into the front trunk area. However, with the plug in the line, if there is an overflow condition it will now leak through the vent hole in the cap and then down the inside of the trunk. Jim

It is also possible that he used a pressure bleeder to bleed the brakes. You HAVE to block the overflow vent to use one. Maybe he did that and forgot to unblock the vent and reconnect the hose?
Just another theory... Dean |
