Clutch setup must've been fun. Dual 915's?

Is this the prototype for the fabled four engined eight wheel drive version unsuccessfully campaigned in 1967?

Seriously, what are you going to dig up next? I thought the buck stopped with that six wheeled Adolf inspired land speed record car you dug up earlier.

This stuff is not hard to find. I have a hard bound book called "Porsche Oddities" or something like that. It is filled with photos, and this twin-911 is in there. I bought the book in the '80's but it is probably outta print now.

I really don't know much about this car. I had heard of it before, but never saw a photo. If anybody knows the details, please post! -- Curt

The name of the book is "Porsche Specials" by Lothar Boschen and Jurgen Barth. I'll try to post the pictures in the book and the story. Stay tuned...

I received this information:

"The car was entered by Albert H. Stein. Veteran Bill Cheesburg practiced with the car but couldn't get it up to qualifying speed. He never made an attempt to qualify the car."

Oh well, I'm sure it looked good on paper when they were sketching that thing out over a few beers! -- Curt

P.S. If there's more info and photos in the book, I'd be interested in seeing them. Thanks!

Also, I found a used 'Porsche Specials' book on Amazon for $25.

I haven't looked thru this book in years. It was originally printed in Germany in 1984 and translated in '86. I'll post some other stuff from after I go through it.

I have read about this car and if I recall correctly their are some politics behind why this car did not run. Some deeper research will reveal much more! Atop speed of 149 mph is total BS. This car would probably double that!!

Brian, you might be thinking of the factory Indycar project around 1980?? Some definite politics going on there! -- Curt

I am sure you are correct Curt. I get my porsche history easily fouled up. A lot of history, makes for good reading.
