Low beams Stopped Working

I have a odd problem with my 74 911. The headlights work great on High Beams but last week the Low Beams stopped working. All other lights work normally. I added relays to the headlight circuits using wiring diagrams that have been used by many others. The headlights worked great with the new Relays for almost a year so I doubt it's in them. What's something to consider? I checked the ground wires and they're in perfect condition. It's really cold now - even in the garage, so I'm trying to focus my troubleshooting. Any ideas?

Thanks -
LarryT

Either a fuse (easy fix) or the hi/lo stalk is fried. There a few threads on the subject, do a search. Also consider adding relays to your lighting system. This is a known weak spot in the 911s of the 70s and 80s.

I had the metal contacts in my stalk got hot and lost their snap tension and would not make contact for the low beams, most likely in that area and easy to check.

Thanks guys! I had replaced the TS switch 8 or 9 years ago with a earlier style switch (I like the look of the 356 type switch) so I think I'll just put the original switch back on. BTW, I already checked the fuses and added the Relays last year.
Thanks again for the quick responses! Now I need to get my kero heater going and warm up my garage. ;-)

Thx again
Larry

Use a voltmeter to check the input/output at the relays on low and high beam. I think this will help you find the problem. My guess? Bad ground.

Swap your relays......if the low beams work and the highs don't.....there's your problem.

Thanks Pete - I'll try that tomorrow! Now I'll see what Draco is talking about -
;-) BTW, I swapped out the TS Switches and unfortunately that didn't fix the problem. SO back to the drawing boards.
