It's coming together

MarkY's comment notwithstanding, it will be ready for the paint shop in a week.

Picture it with paint. It's not a subtle look, but the 911 is not a very subtle car.

Go Go juice

It looks tame, sounds mean and pulls great:

10.5:1 pistons, 964 cams, SSI's, MSD on a complete rebuild.

Guess I'm gonna have to add myself to the Toluene bandwagon.

Why not? It was a track car when I bought it and it remains a track car. However, when it's done it can bring back some memories of a time when motorsports didn't revolve around the dollar and competition was still important.

This is no boulevard cruiser or garage queen.

Headlights

The FG headlight covers can be swapped out in a few minutes for a set of upgraded halogen headlights for street use. The car is street legal since I don't have to contend with the smog nazi's in California.

It looks really sweet! Please post pics when it's painted.

If you don't mind sharing, where did the excellent body components come from?

FG bits

The IROC bodywork came from Rennspeed Motorsports.

"Subtle" is a relative term.

Lothar,
Can you narrow down Southeastern U.S.? I go up to VIR quite a bit. Love to see your car in person.

Lothar,

What colour are you planning on painting it? You've gotta post some pics when it's done! I think it'll look awesome!

I quite like that powder blue on that race car...

Elombard,

OK, I'll bite. How do you know it's Gulf Blue. I was actually planning on painting the car Mexico Blue. I thought it was close enough and I don't want people making the mistake of thinking I am A UNC fan.

The motor was done by a shop in NJ. It was setup before I bought the car. Both the engine and trans were rebuilt.

My car is Gulf blue and that Iroc car was painted the factory Gulf blue (I think). Looks the same anyway. Now that you mention it I think Mexico Blue was a factory color also? Anyway the Gulf Porsche 917s were - you guessed it Gulf blue. So if you are nervous at all I am in Atlanta and you can see what a narrow body looks like in "baby" blue. I think If I was doing a full paint I would go with a slightly darker blue. Seems like I have seen a mid 90s blue that was really cool. Maybe thats Mexico blue?

I want your motor. That is what my 3.0 aspires to be.

I had you confused with another member who lives in Athens and has a similar motor. Super wide bodies are not my thing but I cant wait to see yours finished.
