Replacement Starter Solenoid?

Hello,

Can anyone give me a source to purchase a replacement solenoid for my starter on my 1978 911sc ROW?

Thanks

Dump that old "boat anchor" stock starter and put in one of these.
I have had one of these for the last five years (along with many Pelicans) and couldn't
be happier! Absolutely no problems and cranks faster than stock and did I mention
a heckuva lot lighter, plus easier to install! Not trying to spend your money for you, but a great upgrade
investment instead of an old starter with a new solenoid.

Just had mine rebuilt after the solenoid went, it looks like new and only cost $120. Search for a local auto electric shop, they should be able to help.

If you want to replace just the solenoid, I was told Bosch parts are available through jackssmallengines.com

you can also "rebuild" the solenoid.

you need to be aboe to solder though.
basically you desolder the end and remove it.
rotate the stud that the starter wire goes on and rotate the contact inside.
put it back together.
search my name for more details.

the contacts inside get burned but only on one side,

Most of time solenoid failure is due to the electrical contacts having been "arc'd" away. A bubble of Hi-Temp SILVER solder on each contact pad is usually all that is needed.
