221535
It is a 5-speed for a ’65 model built just prior to 26 July 1965.

Came with 4-bolt Nadella axles (green arrow.)
There was a black steel tension spring (not shown in this image)
at the clutch arm to maintain clearance to the early clutch
release bearing. It went from a hole in the arm (green arrow) to
a rivet presses into the transmission case.

Gears are:

1st = 11:34 A
2nd = 18:34 F (non-reinforced input shaft)
3rd = 22:29 M
4th = 25:26 S
5th = 28:24 X
R&P = 7:31
Non-simplified differential.
The clutch release arm would have the retaining bolt centered.

It would have originally had the pressed in clutch release arm
pivot ball (threaded after 102182 & 222706.)

Here is the update.

The shift pivot would not be hollowed out and would have two
M8 nuts with 14 mm wrench size (common on earlier 356 and VW
but unusual on 911).

All of the external hardware was black finish (un-plated) with
black steel wave washers. The drain, fill, breather, and
accelerator bell crank were silver cadmium finish.

Yes, it was fitted to a 6-cylinder.
It is basically the same as ’66, ’67, and into ’68.

Is b. 130491 a second transmission?
If so, it is basically the same but is a 902/1 for a ’66 911
(491 into the ’66 MY production.)

Best,
Grady

The technical info is from this little (90x120 mm) Factory 112 page
booklet Technical specifications. My “1st English Edition” (W 392)
is dated 10/68 with a cut-off date of 31 December 1967.
There is a current version (WKD 420 310) available from PCNA. It
covers 911 & 912s through the ’68 model year.

The images are from a very early Factory Workshop Manual.
It is so early that Volume I has a decal for the number “I” that
came with Volume II Supplement. It looks like I retired it in
May '74 after many years of use. The last supplement installed
is XXVIII (October '73).

Best,
Grady

Yes, you need to look for stamped numbers (recessed into the metal), not raised characters that are cast into the parts.

Please Harold, were you referring to two different 902/1 transmisions (serial numbers 221535 and 130491) or only one with those two numbers? I know it's been a long time ago and now we are missing our cher Grady but I'm really curious about this matter. If it's the second possibility, could you send me a picture of those numbers?
Best regards from Spain
