Does yours look like this?
Hi guys,
So whilst crawling around on the floor in the garage I noticed that the black rubber bumper strip on the front is looking a bit crap. There is a split starting and it looks like two types of material bonded together. ![]() ![]() So I removed it to take a closer look and the back side of it looks like a horror story! This looks like it has been butchered and bodged to fit at some point.![]() This cannot be factory 'standard'!? I also noticed that on the rh side I have bigger bumper mounting studs than on the LH side. ![]() ![]() Anyone seen anything similar before? Looks like I will be stripping the front end off tomorrow morning for a closer look. Cheers. |

Mine isn't split yet, but also shows an apparent seam on the left side, perhaps a bit farther in than yours.

What year is your car?
I purchased what I thought was the rubber strip for my car only to find out it was for pre '84 cars '84+ do not have seams and fit tighter then the pre 84 ones.

It's a 1977 2,7S US car.
I have just been reading about the impact absorber and Impact pipe options which I wasn't aware of. Not sure which is fitted to mine yet but one will definitely need repairing or replacing as the thread on the stud is stripped. I will commence work on this as soon as I have finished my cup of tea! Happy Sunday.
