Porsche tranny 9153011020R

Hello!

We have this manual transmission and I could not identify by the numbers I found on the side and the back on the Transmission Nose Cone Cover 915.301.301.0R. By this part number I find this info :Fits:
911, 1974-77
911, 1978-83
911, 1984-86

But here is the trick , the another number which is located on the side of the transmission is :
915.301.102.0R
so , this part number led me to 1975 ...
The 3rd part number which is located on the bell housing or clutch housing is:
915.301.101.0R
This part number was the trickiest it said 1966...

I supposed to find a part number on the lower side beside the drain plug .. scraped off..
Any idea which Porsche is this tranny fits on?
Please help!

Thank you!

It's a 915. Is it aluminum or magnesium? Does it have a mechanical speedo drive on the tail? Or an electronic one on the diff housing?
Does it have axle flanges? Are they course or fine spline? 100mm or 108mm diameter?

Bear in mind that numbers cast into parts are... casting numbers. They are often not part numbers and a particular casting can often be finished to anyone of a number of actual parts.

Hi Kevin and Matt!

Thanks for the quick reply!

So , It is darker the aluminium, I assume it is Magnesium...
There is a mechanical speedo drive in the tail.
It doesn`t have axle flange and not a fine spline.

The mechanical speed drive was used from 72 - 77 on the early 915's so that should narrow down your search.

Here is what I think. Others, more knowledgable can correct me, if I'm wrong.

That looks like a 915 with magnesium housing. The 915 was introduced with the 73 911, 2.4 engine. The mechanical speedo drive was replaced by electronic in 1976...........so, i expect that your tranny is falls into that range... 73-76 911.

regards,
al

Yes to what others said. Early to middle 70's 915 for 911.

Now look at the input shaft seal area. Is the guide pressed in or bolted on?

You can also pull the side cover and count the number of teeth on the pinion.

Actually the 915 was introduced in 1972 with the 2.4 motor

On several transaxles I have seen a date code kind of hidden under that top center rib just before the bell housing. If you find this that should give you a good idea of what year it is.
