Is my ad copy so bad!
http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/classifieds.cgi?search_and_display_db_button=on&db_id=1142&query=retrieval
That should be a link to my ad. I know I have ommitted the year (72) but 72 was the only year for a T to have MFI and as this is PP I thought MFI said more than 72. ( Actually it was an error of ommission) I have put the ad elsewhere, but not on E-bay (yet) I'm not really an ebay type of person. In the other ads I have put the year and more or less the same wording. I keep checking to see if the phone is working as not one call. I purposely made the ad to appeal to a P person, or thought I did. I don't want to start another "thrown hammer type posting" that pushes more important posts off of page one. But I think I need some guidence. Thanks Jeff 911T |

Patience - it typically takes me 3-6 months to sell a 911...

Not enough detail...
The pics are too far away and too small. Maybe those pics linked to larger versions. Why is the engine just fair? That makes it sound like there is a problem that you don't want to tell us about. Why is the body just fair, dents, rust, just old paint? I wouldn't have known MFI on a T ment '72. You could also mention something about being the only year with the oil tank in the fender. And it's only been a couple of days.

Jeff M - maybe this needs a little more description and some editing...
Here's what I'd wonder about if I were interested in this car:
1) What's fair with the body and what's not? Paint? No mismatched panels or anything else? Rust? Dings? 2) Omit the v.g. reference. Sounds like an excuse more than admittance. 3) Engine: "fair" and "runs very well" seems incongruous. Just say "runs well," then mention no smoke (BTW: smoke at startup, overrun...when?), leaks and tensioner updates. "Fair" is too subjective. 4) I don't know if the Co and hydrocarbons are important. How many people care about these items when buying a car? 5) Interior mention reads fine. 6) Reason for selling: I don't know if you need to mention this. If someone's interested, they'll contact you regardless of why you're selling the car. I don't think this will add too much length to the copy. The more pertinent information, the safer a buyer will feel. Good luck.

'72 wasn't the only year for MFI on a T. '73 had it also, with a switch to CIS mid year. You need links to bigger pictures that show more detail.
Some things I look for in an ad: number of owners records/history rust description originality details on all the parts (seats, wheels, etc) good detailed pictures, especially showing the typical trouble spots (see rust description) what works, what doesn't work dash cracks, headliner condition |

You need to say the year -
my impression looking at the ad is that it must be a rust-bucket 68 with the later engine pushed in or who knows what. for a 72 it sounds like a good price but everybody is going to want to know about rust, collision repairs, maybe compression/leakdown, oil usage. |

Try to state everything in a positive light, while still maintaining the honesty that your ad currently shows.
It's a shame that it doesn't fit my buying criteria (see below). I've been looking for quite a while now. Best wishes with selling your car.

If that car were in SoCal, Las Vegas or western AZ, I'd be on it. Whadamean no calls. Must not be the season back there. The season for non-a/c cars just started here.
