Fuel pump questions

I am about to get my '71T back on the road after about three years of sitting and projects...mostly sitting. Anyway, after I rebuilt the carbs several months ago, the fuel pump would not fire up. Power to the unit but no pumping. I am going to tear it down and see what the issue is but in the mean time, is there an aftermarket pump that will work? I just don't see the sense in spending $600+ on a pump for a carbureted engine. Am I off track here?

If I go with an aftermarket pump, what is the PSI requirements for the Zenith carbs? Is it around 5 PSI?

Does anyone produce a rebuild kit for the factory pump or is that futile?

Thanks!

5PSI is correct, any speed shop can help. Get a regulator as well to be sure and a fuel filter upstream is a good idea. I like the glass bodied cylinder type, you can see any gunk that gets filtered out.

There is no rebuild kit for your original pump that I am aware of but plenty of us have had them apart, there are good threads to read.

Most don't recommend over 4psi ,personally I have used 3.8 psi with a quality pump and regulator with good results,or host sells a suitable unit,I believe they are internally regulated also.
I like the idea of a regulator for piece of mind and its a handle place to do a tidy gauge install.
Have heard some bad press about the Facet pump,if rated flow for the engine is correct there should be no issue, they are rather noisey however.
Can't understand why Porsche mounted pumps in the engine compartment ,far better up near the tank.
