Tunnel Fuel Line question
Hi All,
I've just installed my new Dansk fuel tank in my 85 Carrera after coating it in Wurth High Build Undercoat. So far, so good....no leaks and it started right up after sitting with no fule tank attached for over a week. Now I am exploring options for all new fuel lines from the tank to the injectors. I've seen Len at AutoSportEngineering's fuel lines and they are very nice, but I'm thinking about the tunnel lines. Len makes flexible hoses with swaged fittings on the ends for tunnel line replacements. Why not use Aluminum hard lines for the tunnel lines? Any opinions/advice/etc. is much appreciated. Thanks, Erik. |

Erik,
I too am interested in replacing every inch of fuel line. a new lump is on its way from Germany and I'd like to make sure she gets only the best. Am considering a new fuel tank as well. I will be watching this thread and hoping someone with much more knowledge than I responds.

Erik,
Sorry to tell you, but, it would have been a lot easier pulling the lines thru the tunnel with tank out.

Thanks Mike....I know, but I wanted to get the car back down on the ground to bring it in for an alignment.
But yes, I agree with you and will have to take the tank out again when i get around to replacing the tunnel fuel lines. I've been thinking about adding a petcock in-line before the intake of the fuel pump to make draining the tank a little safer/easier as well. I'd love to hear ideas/opinions on that...thanks. Thanks, Erik. |

I've seen other fellas choose seamless stainless steel tubing with flared fittings for their tunnel fuel lines. I'm also curious why they chose stainless and not aluminum. Probably because stainless is more resistant to corrosion (ethanol fuels) than aluminum?

I'd be one of those fellas - Smooth bore stainless steel lines through my tunnel with flared connections on each end. Piece of mind when running on the track

Wow, I used the stock factory lines on mine. Biggest PITA job I've done since trying to change the door stay. I can't imagine the brain damage from using SS piping. My hat is off to you!

What's the pita with the factory lines? Fat fittings at the ends get snagged in the tunnel?
