Just ordered the same setup from Brian. Looking forward to it. Currently running borla 1 in 4 out, which is pretty loud already. Just looking for a lower tone.
Wachuko... Any problems removing old exhaust nuts? |

Hey wachuko, I decided to try out those Quiet Riot baffles as well. My system has a pretty bad drone around 2.8k-3.2k RPM so I asked Brian to send me a cap for one of my tail-pipes in an effort to calm the drone down. I dont like the look of one end getting capped so it will be interesting to see if these baffles do anything to tame it. I have my doubts about the claimed mid-range power increase, but I guess we shall see. Ill post a before/after video in the cabin once they arrive.

quiet riot baffles
I used to have Fabspeed Supercups 1 in 1 out and switching to M&K GT3 style 1 in 2 out, I noticed that I lost that certain power I had with my Supercups. Putting those baffles, I noticed the punch I lost was quite back. Not sure about the experience of other, but worked on mine. On taming the sound, I noticed it slightly different but couldn't remember if it toned down a bit.

FWIW, my '84 has stock H/E, M&K 1 in 2 out (straight back, lined up w/ trunk lid edges) w/ 2 1/2" outlet pipes. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1428007515.jpg I had asked Ben to install some baffles as I expected loudness. So, the muffler was installed with some baffle inserts brazed in that narrowed the outlet to about 2 1/4" and were perforated. Pretty loud and made a truly horrible tweeting noise on throttle. I ground those out (not fun). Straight through was really loud, but a glorious sound. The noise level would set off all the car alarms in the parking structure at my office. So, I got two internal block-off pipes from Ben and drilled a 1 1/2" hole in each and installed them. Somewhat less loud, but the driver side was noticeably louder. Note - as a 1 in setup the inlet was almost a straight shot into the driver side outlet. Finally, I got the Quiet Riot baffles. After removing the passenger side block-off/baffle, I installed the Quiet Riots in both outlets. Sound is very good quality and maybe 20-25 percent quieter than no baffling. I.e., not quiet by any means, but when I take the car to work now it only sets off one or two car alarms. Good enough! Ben, and now Brian, make a very nice product, w/beautiful welds and perfect fit. But, you may have to experiment a bit to get your sound level and sound quality to your liking. BTW, nice project. |
Not really installed... just in place without gaskets and just a few nuts to move it out of the living room :)
