Hissssssss from brake depression
I have a 78 SC. Just put new seals in front caliper pistons, stainless lines, new front shoes and new front rotors and new fluid. All bled out nicely. Brakes seem to work great. However, when depressing the brake I hear a hissssssss sound -- seems like it is coming from under the dash. The sound continues while the car is stopped and the brake pedal is depressed. No leaks I can find and no softness in the brakes.
Any ideas? Writing this, it occurs to me to have someone listen at the master cylinder to see if it is coming from there.

brake booster leaks, maybe? or, your master cyl is causing that leak at the booster because it feels neglected after you replaced everything else.

Hi Brad, yeah it's the booster or the o-ring at the master cylinder connection. Use a small vacuum line up to your ear and listen for the location of the leak.

Had same problem when I rebuilt brakes on my Alfa. You may have over extended the brake pedal travel when you were bleeding them out. May have done some damage to the booster bladder.

Thanks guys. I guess I better fix that.
Kodio -- I have not forgotten about the 95mm ring compressor!

I would enjoy that. And this time I will drive a SC, not a Honda Element!
