Oddball carb set up

Just saw this on Craigslist. Not sure how it smogs?


1977 Porsche 911 Targa w a 3.0L and carbs

Bob Farmer makes them also. Despite the looks, they make good power and torque.

Despite the looks? I actually think they look pretty cool! If it does perform well, man that's as easy as it gets in comparison to dual carbs.. That said, the second example looks more engineered than the first..

Looks like there is enough volume in each runner for two cylinder fills, so throttle response may not be optimum. Usually, long runners also reduce fuel atomization which could cause poor fuel burn characteristics. Porsche ditched the central carb back in the mid fifties.

Reminds me of my old VW beetle days. Never had any throttle response or performance issues then. In fact, the beetle even felt peppier than some 3.2 Carreras that I have driven.

That set up would make for an easy EFI conversion...

MSD sells am EFI system that is like a carb, it has everything embedded, if the ECM can be made to work with a flat 6, i would be interesting.

a double pumper holley is a lot of carb for a 3l .... setup right i bet it works really well

sure would make an easy way to put a n2o plate kit on too
