lost key

i have succeeded in misplacing the only key i have for my 78 930. so what are the prospects of rekeying the switch portion of the ignition switch or just purchasing the tumbler portion with a proper key? any help or advice is appreciated.

A locksmith can make you a new key. If you cannot drive the car, the locksmith can come to you. Have him make you two keys this time.

I've had that issue with other cars and have had good luck with Ellis Lock and Key here in Spartanburg. If you can pull the switch out, he can make you a key in a couple of hours. Last one I did was around $40. I'm sure there are other shops around Easley or Greenville that could do it too.

Though not original, a standard VW/Audi blank can be cut for our cars.

Give the chassis number to the local Porsche agent and they will cut a correct key for you off the computer.
