Engine noise after storage on '87 911 3.2l
Hello,
I was in a bad accident last year and spent most of the year in a wheel chair and in rehab. My cars were left in storage and I always use Stabil anyway. Today I started the 911 for the first time after one year. It started but idling was rough as if it was mis firing. I immediately added a bottle of Techron before driving to the gas station. The Techron helped and I was able to top off with 4 gallons. There was the expected lack of power of driving on old gas but a valve noise (like the old VW beetle engine) was present that I have never heard before. I never went above 3000rpm and drove it for 15+ miles. The power came back, at least for a mixture of old gas. The clatter/ engine noise did not go away however. It is very noticeable above 2400 rpm. Interestingly enough it does not make any noise without load, so when I rev it in neutral, it sounds just fine. The engine ran perfectly, without clatter, last it was driven. Any ideas? Recommendations? Thanks Anthony
