TB Adjustment Lever Stuck
I am in the process of replacing bushings, TBs, shocks, balljoints, etc. One of the front TB adjustment levers is rusted onto the TB. I have tried PB Blaster, heat (350F with heatgun), hammer,.... no joy. Any ideas? Anyone have an extra they will sell for a reasonable amount? PP has them but they are pricey. I am going to try a pitman puller next.. it worked on the tie-rod ends.

I believe more heat would have been better but got it off and used everything: heat, hammer, pitman puller, more PB Blaster. I love the lend-a-tool program at Autozone!
The splines on the old TB look OK and the splines that engage on the adjuster look OK but the splines at the end of the adjuster, beyond engagement look a bit bad. Should I reuse it? ![]() ![]() |

Kinda hard to tell from that photo, but I would try to remove the rust between the splines with a small pick or file. If you are successful check the fit and see if it isn't too sloppy.

Mine was the same, hammered the poop out of it to get it off, as long as teh splines are still intact just clean it and put some grease in there to help keep rust away

Thanks guys. I used a brush and steel pick to clean it up and tested with old and new TBs. Fits tight but not too tight. I will definitely be slathering some grease in there and on the bars.
